Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans to strengthen the transmission system in eastern Indiana. The improvements in Blackford County increase reliability, lessen power outages, and speed recovery ofservice when outages occur.
The approximate $21 million investment involves:
Fall 2019 – Company representatives determined the routes after reviewing input from landowners and community members following I&M’s project announcement in July 2018 and public open house in August 2018.
Summer 2018 - Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) announces the Hartford City Area Improvements project
A public Open House will be held to gather input from local residents. Representatives from I&M will be available to discuss specific aspects of the project and to answer questions residents may have. Feedback from the community will be gathered from this event and used to help determine the final proposed line route. The Open House will be informal, and can be attended at any time during the evening and is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7 from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM at Eaton Community Center, 600 E. Harris St., Eaton, IN.
I&M will replace aging wood poles with steel monopole structures averaging 75-feet in height. Structures will be placed within a 60-foot right-of-way.
I&M is committed to meeting the energy needs of customers while protecting the environment and natural beauty of the region.
