Moundsville Area Transmission Rebuild Project

American Electric Power and its affiliate, West Virginia Transmission Co., plan to increase reliability to customers by upgrading aging transmission infrastructure in Moundsville and Marshall County.

The Moundsville Area Transmission Rebuild Project consists of rebuilding about 11 miles of transmission line and making upgrades to multiple substations along the project route. Construction is expected to start spring 2018 and be completed by mid-2019. Majority of the work will be done in or adjacent to the existing right-of-way. The estimated budget is $50 million.

Project Update

American Electric Power held an informational open house to introduce proposed study segments and answer questions related to the project in March. The company is now utilizing information gathered at the open house to determine a final line route. If you have any additional information that can assist in that process, please use the Contact Us link on this page to provide comment.
