Cabin Creek - Cedar GroveTransmission Line Rebuild Project


Appalachian Power representatives plan to increase electric reliability by upgrading the power grid serving customers in Kanawha County. The Cabin Creek - Cedar Grove Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves relocating approximately 4 miles of 46-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line.* Company representatives expect construction to begin in the summer of 2025 and conclude by January 2027.

*This project requires Public Service Commission of West Virginia approval.

Project Updates

April 8, 2024: Company representatives have determined a proposed line route after reviewing input from landowners and community members, environmental impacts and land use. The project involves building the transmission line largely in new right-of-way. Directly involved property owners can expect to hear about next steps from the right-of-way contractor representing Appalachian Power.
