AEP Ohio plans to continue to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in central Stark County. The Stadium Park Extension 69-kilovolt (kV) Transmission Line Project includes rebuilding approximately 3.5 miles of transmission line. The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $7 million, an investment that will enhance reliability and accommodate future growth in the region by strengthening the electric infrastructure.
AEP Ohio is replacing the more than 45 year old structures with new steel, single pole structures. The infrastructure in the area has reached an age where it needs to be replaced to better serve area customers. This rebuild project will help ensure the continued reliability of the transmission system, which is vital to AEP Ohio’s current customers and supports the development of the area’s economy.
The new transmission line will traverse Canton and Plain townships in Stark County.
Construction is underway on the new approximately 3.5-mile, 69-kV transmission line. Construction will begin with the building of access roads and clearing trees. The project team completed its work near the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Construction crews are rebuilding the line near Martindale Road and Middlebranch Avenue.
AEP Ohio will build new steel, single pole structures that will be about 90-feet tall. The structures will be placed in road right-of-way or about a 50-foot wide right-of-way corridor.

We installed custom transmission structures designed to resemble football field goal posts near the Pro Football Hall of Fame. You can see them from Interstate 77 near 17th Street Northwest.
