AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Madison and Pickaway counties. The Pickaway – Madison Area Improvements is a two-phase project that brings an additional power source and upgrades existing transmission equipment to provide a reliable flow of electricity to its customers. The first phase includes building about 7 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. The second phase includes rebuilding about 26 miles of 69 kV transmission line. The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $50 million.
