Ironman 138kV Substation Project

AEP Ohio plans to build a 138-kilovolt (kV) substation within the city of Jackson, northwest of East Broadway Street and Fairmont Street intersection. The company will construct the approximate 2-acre substation on property owned by AEP Ohio. The estimated investment of this Project is $5 million.

This project is driven by the economic development in the Jackson County and surrounding area. This new substation will allow for new businesses to come into the area and allow existing companies to expand and allow for the opportunity for future growth.

Project Updates

The Ohio Power Siting Board granted approval to construct this project on July 19, 2017. Construction is scheduled to start at the end of 2017.

Proposed Structures

Steel structures have been selected for the new section of transmission line that will provide power to the substation. This will minimize the physical impact of the facilities. Poles will be approximately 90 feet tall.
