Harpster-Waldo 69 kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project

The Harpster-Waldo 69 kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding about 30 miles of transmission line in Marion and Wyandot counties. The line will be rebuilt within the current right-of-way; however, in some cases, AEP Ohio will need to supplement current easements.

Rebuilding the line with modern equipment improves electric service reliability, limits the number of extended power outages and speeds recovery of service when outages do occur.

The project will use steel single pole structures that will be approximately 80-feet tall. Early estimates show this is an approximate $40 million investment.

Project Updates

Right-of-way agents will meet with landowners at the beginning of the year to provide information about survey activities, easement acquisition and construction along the line. Construction is anticipated to begin fall 2018.
