Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is rebuilding the 34.5-kilovolt (kV) transmission line that is located on the east side of Fort Wayne. The improvements are essential to ensure continued reliable electric service is available for local customers.
Upgrading the 2-mile 34.5 kV line to 69 kV standards decreases the potential for power outages and speeds recovery of service when outages occur. Alternative study segments are being considered and evaluated for new construction. The interactive map above shows the proposed study segments.
Early 2018: Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) cordially invites you to attend a public informational open house. The public informational open house will take place Thursday, February 15 at Memorial Park Middle School on 2200 Maumee Avenue in Fort Wayne. Visitors may come and go at any time during the workshop. Existing wood poles will be replaced with steel monopole structures. The structures will range from approximately 65 to 85-feet in height.
